Why ride a bike ride to fight MS? The
Bike MS tours are fundraising events held all over the U.S. A Bike MS
tour succeeds because it can unite so many different kinds of people
together for a short focused time to accomplish great things.
The event mobilizes not only thousands of cyclists, but also
their families and friends, hundreds of volunteers, and communities
along the route. The Lone Star Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society manages three rides each year: Houston to Austin in April, Frisco to Fort Worth in May, and San Antonio to Corpus Christi in October.
Our first Bike MS for 2010 will be the BP Bike MS from Houston to Austin, the largest in nation. This year these dedicated cyclists and their sponsors hope to raise more than the $15 million dollars raised last year. 84% of the money raised goes toward medical research and client services. I hope to see our Dallas supporters while up there for that exciting ride. Our third planned Bike MS tour for 2010 will be October 9-10. We will be leaving from the Alamodome in San Antonio via rural roads to Seguin and then turn to the northwest to finish the first day in New Braunfels. The second day takes us back to San Antonio via a different route and finishes in grand style in the Alamodome. Please join Lansing and Liz on this challenge with your financial support. |
