MS affects over 400,000 Americans, with about 200 becoming diagnosed with MS each week. Although rarely fatal, MS robs many of their mobility and abilities as it progressively destroys functions controlled by the nervous system. Research around the world is making significant progress in slowing and sometimes stopping MS. A significant portion of the funding for research comes from donations motivated by bicycle rides organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
